Navjyot Singh Sidhu gets 1 year imprisonment after 3 decades for the 1988 road rage case

It has been 3 decades after which Congress Leader ‘Navjyot Singh Sidhu’ is being charged for the case that happened on December 27, 1988, where Navjyot Sidhu became the reason for Gurnam Singh’s death.

However, the court had earlier reserved their order on an application seeking to widen the scope of notice in the road rage case to capture more information. The same application had been also filed in an ongoing review petition.

Navjyot Sidhu has opposed the plea seeking to widen the scope of the road rage case against him referring to the earlier order of the Supreme Court which stated that there was no evidence that the death of Mr. Gurnam Singh was caused by a single hit.

On September 22, 1999, a Sessions Court Judge of Patiala had acquitted Navjyot Sidhu and his associate citing lack of evidence and giving the benefit of the case.

On May 19, 2022 Navjyot Singh Sidhu’s purpose was defeated after 3 decades and was captured by the police for a 1 year imprisonment
