New Aprilia Bikes Are On Their Way to India!
The Italian sportsbike manufacturer- Aprilia is eyeing on the 150cc motorcycle segment. Moreover, Aprilia has also planned to launch its models- The RS 150 and the Aprilia Tuono 150 in India and they had even showcased these two bike in the Auto Expo 2018.
Piaggio to Bring 250-300cc Bikes In India in Collaboration With Aprilia!
Piaggio won’t launch the 150cc motorcycles under the Aprilia brand in India after all just like the RS150. However, Piaggio seems to have other plans which are no less exciting either. Moreover, Piaggio is now focusing on the growing mid-size motorcycle segment in India which is also largely dominated by Royal Enfield as there’s more scope for that. Furthermore, Piaggio now plans to launch motorcycles in the 250-300cc range with Aprilia.
“We are definitely looking with a lot of interest at the motorcycle segment in India. It is natural, having a motorcycle brand like Aprilia, which is popularly known across the world for winning in racing competitions. We are now looking more at the 250-300cc range motorcycles. However, we need some time to introduce the products.

The mid-size motorcycle segment has been rapidly growing for the last couple of years. The consumers who had previously bought 150cc commuter motorcycles are now being considered as bigger mid-size motorcycles with a little for performance. In the financial year 2018-2019, around 7,73,855 motorcycles which had engine capacity between 250-350 cc were sold in the Indian domestic market. Excluding those, Royal Enfield accounted for 99% of the market share with sales volumes of 7,64,012 units and that too during 2018-2019.
What’s interesting?
Piaggio has finally shown some interest in the 250-300cc segment, it is not yet known as to what kind of products are being planned to launch. Aprilia has mostly naked line-up, and full-faired sport bikes. Despite the growing interest in the 250-350 cc motorcycle segment, the fact remains that the dominant player is still under the sector of modern classic bikes. Whatever it may be, we hope it arrives sooner than later. It would be really interesting to see the Aprilia’s take on this segment.
