The Toyota Glanza will be launched on June 6. Based on the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, the Glanza is Toyota’s first rebadged Maruti Suzuki car for India.
The Glanza will be priced at a premium compared to its Maruti counterpart with prices expected to be in the range of Rs 7.20 lakh to Rs 9.20 lakh ex-showroom. While not much has changed between both the cars, the recent spy shots reveal that the Toyota Glanza is most likely to employ the 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine due to the lack of mild hybrid badging on the exterior. The 1.2-litre K-Series engine produces 83PS of power and 113Nm of torque. Transmission options for the Baleno include a 5-speed MT and a CVT automatic. So expect these to be offered with the Toyota as well. The Glanza’s competitors include the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz and the upcoming Tata Altroz.
As said by Zigwheels:
Compared to the Baleno, the Glanza gets minimal changes on the outside. Apart from a twin slat chrome grill, both the cars remain identical all around. Even elements like the bumpers, door handles, alloy wheels and the detailing on the tail lamps remain the same as its Maruti counterpart.
And the Dual Jet motor churns out more power at 90PS and 113Nm of torque and comes mated to a 5-speed manual in the Baleno. There’s no automatic option on offer for now.
The Glanza can also take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz and the upcoming Tata Altroz. What do you think of the Glanza? Will you pick one up over the Baleno? Comment below.
