2021 Skoda Rapid Overview

The upcoming 2021 Skoda sedan has been codenamed ANB internally. This model will be equipped with a MQB A0 platform and that too will be an underpinned tailored-for-India version, also called as MQB A0 IN. Moreover, after Skoda launches its SUV that will compete against the likes of Hyundai Creta, it will also bring their new model to the market that will also be based on the same platform.

The upcoming midsize sedan will also share some of its body panels with the new Volkswagen Vitrus. The Vitrus is currently being sold in South America but the updated model will be featured with the latest Skoda design elements that will differentiate it from its VW brother. This car may get more features than its rivals which includes- Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, etc.

Talking about the dimensions of the Skoda midsize sedan, it is going to be around 100mm longer and much wider than the current-gen Rapid.

Skoda is going to equip the car with a wide variety of features including-

  • LED lights
  • Full-digital instrument cluster
  • Ambient lighting
  • Large touchscreen
  • Gear-shift selector
  • Front center console

Skoda Midsize Sedan Powertrain

The upcoming midsize sedan will be powered by a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine that will produce over 116hp and around 200Nm of peak torque. As for the diesel version, no such news has arrived. Moreover, Skoda is currently in the process of phasing out its diesel engine line-up ahead of the stringent BS6 norms that are going to be implemented by April 2020.

What’s more: The company will also see its Volkswagen twin in India which is going to be replaced with the Vento sedan and mostly around the same time period.
