2020 Mahindra Bolero BS-6 Overview
Mahindra Bolero has become the first UV in India to be certified as a BS-VI-compliant. Moreover, the Bolero has received a BS6-readiness certificate from the International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT) in the Power Plus version, making it the first Mahindra model to be upgraded to meet the more stringent emission norms and that’s excellent. What you are currently getting for sale right now is the BS-4 compliant and not the BS-VI one. However, the BS6-compliant Mahindra Bolero range will go on sale in early 2020, the company said this in an official statement.
Mahindra Bolero Power Plus(BS-6) Engine
The Mahindra Bolero Power Plus is powered with a 1.5-litre, three-cylinder, turbo-diesel engine that makes 71hp and 195Nm of peak torque. This engine also does the duty in the other models such as the Mahindra TUV300, and the upgraded BS6 version of this unit will make it to the TUV300 soon. Moreover, it is also said that the standard Bolero’s 63hp/195Nm, 2.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel motor will also be upgraded before the April 2020 deadline as per the Mahindra’s BS6 engine strategy.
Will the prices go up for the BS-6 Compliant Mahindra Bolero?
Pawan Goenka, managing director, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, recently said the hike in prices won’t push diesel vehicles out of the reach of buyers, what it means is that there won’t be a large price gap between the standard and the power-plus variant. What’s also worth noting is that the Bolero is due for another major update, which will help it meet the new crash-test norms that come into effect from 1st October, 2019. Safety features in the Mahindra Bolero BS-6 Variant
Mahindra has started producing the Boleros that are equipped to comply with the AIS-145 safety norms. Now standard on the safety features list are a driver’s side airbag, ABS, rear parking sensors, seatbelt reminders for the driver and front passenger, a speed warning system and a manual override for the central locking system(That’s amazing, right?). The manufacturer will also remove child locks from the units meant for the fleet and taxi market at the dealer level soon too.
